It’s official – the United Kingdom is a nation of festive party enthusiasts!

We recently conducted a survey of 2,000 UK adults, which unveiled some intriguing insights into the nation’s festive season revelry. From planned post-party sick days to big spending habits, here’s a glimpse of what’s in store for this year’s Christmas celebrations.

Christmas Celebration Habits in the UK

Post-Party Sick Days:

It turns out that that over a fifth (21%) of the UK population plan to call in sick the day after their Christmas party. And Londoners are leading the pack, with a staggering 38% confessing they’ll likely need a ‘sickie’ after indulging in festive celebrations.

Christmas Party Capital:

London also takes the crown as the UK’s biggest party animal, with nearly a quarter (22%) attending more than 5 Christmas parties during the festive season.

Spending Spree:

A staggering £7.4bn is set to be lavished on Christmas parties across the UK this year – three and a half times the amount of last year.

Party Planning:

While 1 in 5 have already planned their Christmas parties, over a third (36%) of Brits adopt a spontaneous approach, leaving their plans to the last minute.

Regional Party Personalities:

Each region adds its unique touch to the party scene with the North West taking pride in being the ‘Last Ones Standing’, the North East preferring the ‘Dance and Dash’ making a Houdini exit before 10pm, and Northern Ireland embracing ‘The Devoted DMCer’ role.
