Forbes 30 Under 30 – Raissa and Joyce de Haas

Raissa and Joyce have been recognised as Forbes 30 under 30 for how they have brought innovation to the mixer industry!

Read about how they won a spot on the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Hailed as a collection of young risk takers and bold disruptors, the 2019 30 Under 30 Europe list includes the most accomplished entrepreneurs in Europe, with 30 names selected across 10 categories, all identified for their visionary products and new ideas.

Identical twins Raissa and Joyce de Haas got an early start in entrepreneurship. When they were 5, the Dutch sisters made and sold paper flowers on the beach and sold corn bought from local farmers.

Two decades later, Raissa and Joyce are the founders of Double Dutch Drinks, selling soft drinks developed specifically for pairing with high-quality spirits including gin, whiskey, rum and tequila. The sisters were inspired to launch Double Dutch after they moved to London five years ago to study tech entrepreneurship and found the beverage scene lacking. “Because the Netherlands is the birthplace of gin, we grew up with a big passion for better-quality spirits and better-quality drinks,” explains Raissa, the 28-year-old CEO of Double Dutch. “There was movement in the spirits industry and especially in the gin market, but the tonic waters and mixers were really boring.”

“When we were students we always used to make tonic waters for our friends and family,” says Joyce, who serves as COO. “We fell into it here again in London.” The three-and-a-half-year-old brand has sold 10 million bottles and raised £1.9 million to date. Double Dutch Drinks is carried in 4,500 outlets worldwide, including Michelin-star restaurants and luxury hotels such as The Savoy and the Mandarin Oriental.

The de Haas twins are just two of the outstanding individuals on Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe Retail & E-commerce List.
